As most of you already know, Basil hosted the annual winter disc golf tournament this year on Feb 21st. We’ve already posted about this before, but many of us don’t realize the impact these tournaments have. This year, John Alloco and the good citizen disc golfers of the Rochester area (oh, and Tim Campbell) raised $3,386.61 for Foodlink, whose headquarters sit just down the road on Mt. Read Blvd.
About Foodlink’s Local Impact
Foodlink is the regional food bank for Western New York, supplying food to pantries, shelters, and community programs across the area. Donations like this directly help get meals to families throughout Rochester and nearby counties.
Credit Where It’s Due
A very warm and special thank-you goes to John Alloco for organizing and running the tournament and making the donation on behalf of the Disc Golf Rochester community. And, of course, a special thanks to all 41 participants (plus Jeremy Lloyd, who unfortunately became ill and couldn’t play) for your generous donations.
The Mulligan Effect
The real story? $1 mulligans!
Turns out, disc golfers are extremely confident knowing their next shot will be better! One dollar at a time, those mullies added up fast, proving that a little optimism (and maybe a few extra throws) can go a long way for a good cause!
Congrats to this year’s team winners!
(likely spent $300 each lol)
