Remote and In-Person Options to Improve Your Game

I’m Conor McKaig, I play MPO and I love talking about form, discs, and course strategy. I found disc golf in 2017 in West Virginia where I would play weekly doubles with Corey Ellis and Johnny Sias, which showed me no matter your age or body type you can play great golf. Since then I’ve become a steady ~950-rated player and have refined my game in all areas, throwing backhand and forehand as well as using a spin and a loft putt so I can fit my shot to the best available shape.

I want to help you build and refine your game! I offer three options to fit different needs:

$10 Remote Critique

  • Using your video of the throw you want to work on I will break down what I see and give you suggestions for what to work on and how to do it.
  • I’ll provide you with a video that compares your form to a top level pro with a similar body type so you can see exactly what the differences are.

$40 Fieldwork Lesson (1hr)

  • Includes Video Critique provided ahead of lesson date.
  • You and I will spend an hour in a field working together on your main focus points. We’ll start from basics and build up to get you to feel what the proper technique is so that you can take it to the course.

$75 Course Lesson (2hrs)

  • Includes Video Critique provided ahead of lesson date.
  • You and I will spend two hours at a local course working together on your main focus points. The front nine will build from the ground up so that you can feel the proper technique.
  • The back nine we’ll open things up and explore other areas while getting more reps on your main focus points. I’ll talk through my strategy for each hole, my disc choice, and help make sure that you are setting yourself up for success before you the disc even leaves your hand.

When you’re interested, contact me via any of my social media channels (@mckegdiscgolf) or via email at .

Here’s a testimonial from a local player:

“Conor is a fantastic coach! I booked an 18-hole lesson with him this summer, and it was incredibly valuable. Before we got on the course, he provided feedback on my form, a plan for our focus areas, and steps to follow after the lesson.

During the lesson, we concentrated on a few fundamental aspects missing from my throw. Conor worked these elements into my throw over a few holes. Once we refined the throw, we played a few more holes, adjusting as needed to understand the difference between a correct and incorrect throw. No video can teach you what the right feeling should be; that can only be done in person.

Additionally, Conor gave me tips for attacking the course, further feedback, and clear next steps to continue my progress. I can confidently say that this was the best investment I’ve made in disc golf so far. I look forward to booking future lessons to continue my growth.”

Local player lesson review:

“I got a lesson from Tyler last Fall to help me figure out how to get more distance. Right away, he pointed out three things. As the lesson progressed the couple times I was able to put everything together and throw correctly it actually felt different and obviously went further. But the other big takeaway for me was after our lesson, suddenly, the YouTube videos about form, gaining distance, etc, that I watch every night make total sense now. So, it was money well spent, and of course, after 9 years of bad form, nothing changes overnight, but now I have the knowledge to work on getting better. I wish I had done this years ago. Do it. It’s totally worth it.

Your First Lesson Is Free!

I do all first lessons for free, but I do encourage a contribution in the form of membership with the Disc Golf ROC organization. Know that 100% of your contribution is given to the DGROC to help improve and maintain our courses.

Nope! I’m not a pro player. I’m not pretending to be one either. However, I do have a long teaching background, some great tournament experience including a sanctioned win in 2024, and a love of sharing my knowledge of disc golf form mechanics to quickly help newer players improve.

My coaching style is a very basics, ground-up, simple to understand method. I also use video feedback. Everyone is different, but there are key steps everyone has to achieve to throw effectively. You will learn key form positions using lots of examples to understand them and take the lesson with you.

I’m an intermediate player currently rated at 876 with the PDGA, and I’m an active league and sanctioned tournament player with a handful of top podium finishes including a C-Tier win in the MA40 division.

I am proud to say I’m sponsored in 2025 and playing for the Hellhounds ARGOS Amateur Team, sponsored by Backbone-USA, a Backbone Disc Golf LLC Company.

Yes, I do not charge anything for the first lesson. Why? Well, for one, I’m not a pro yet. Secondly, the money isn’t important to me. I do it for the love of coaching, the love of the sport, for supporting my club, and to grow the sport.

Contact me, even if you want to talk first about your goals.

Review from a local player:

“I just want to say that as a new person to the sport, this community is awesome. I posted recently asking for some tips and the warm welcome, tips, offers to play rounds, etc. is amazing and has me so excited to be walking into this sport and community. To the people who offered to play some rounds, my schedule sucks but we’ll make it happen!

I also want to say a huge thank you to John Kelly for the lesson today. I feel exponentially better prepared for my next round and already feel a massive improvement in my backhand throwing. I have a ton more to learn, but this lesson was a huge leap forward and I am excited to keep playing, learning, and improving. John’s a wonderful teacher and I just want to recommend him to everyone.
