Our Course Steward at Parma, Andre Brunette, has posted an update on the work at his course:

“Hole 1:
– leaves and fallen limbs cleaned up.
– Rotted pine stump on white baskets green removed
– Rock circle surrounding white basket rebuilt, some were sunken and some were no longer there. likely will add more mulch when the town mulches the rest of the park.
Still to do – clean up pile of trees by the path between hole 1 green and hole 2 short tee
Hole 2:
– leaves and fallen limbs/dead trees cleaned up in long tee fairway
-opened up left side lane from short tee and cleaned up a bunch of the debris laying around.
Still to do – clean up short tee left side fairway, area is muddy right now.
Hole 3:
– leaves and limbs cleaned up in wooded section.
– cleaned out ditch behind long tee pad to allow better water drainage.
Still to do – clean up pile of limbs/trees where the wooded section and path meet. Get rid of dead trees in that area that are falling. Clean up underbrush/dead trees in plantings on right side of fairway
Hole 9:
– Section of dead trees and brush behind the green have been cleared out.
Still to do – clean up along the plantings on the right side of the hole. Clean up limbs/debris from clearing dead trees
Hole 10:
– Junk trees/dead trees along the right side have been removed. This doesn’t affect anything while playing to the white basket, but the red basket fairway will be more open close to the hedges.
Still to do – clean up piles of dead trees/limbs from tree removal.
Hole 14:
– Dead trees have been removed from the planting that goes along the right side of the fairway out in the meadow.
Still to do – clean up piles of limbs from dead tree removal. Clean up woods section. Create path from hole 13 white basket to short tee on hole 14.
Hole 17:
– leaning trees near the white basket have been removed for safety
– leaves and fallen limbs have been cleaned up from the red basket to the white basket.
– opened up the green area on left side as well as the leftside fairway from red basket to white basket roughly 30-40 feet.
– cleared dead/fallen trees on left side of fairway from red basket to white basket.
– cleaned up right side of fairway where vines and dead trees were hanging all over and stacked them in piles to keep the separation of hole 4 and 17.
Still to do – lots of limb and leaves clean up left to do on this hole. Cut some of the dead ash trees that were removed into firewood.
Hole 18:
– cleaned up leaves/limbs near teepads.
– rebuilt rocks around basket
Still to do – clean up leaves/dead limbs near basket. Install lock box near path by hole 18 basket.
I will be working on the other holes as well but this is what the parks department and myself have started so far this year. Looking forward to an awesome year. If anyone is out playing and wants to contribute, the best way would be picking up any branches you see laying around and move them to the side of the hole out of the way.
Til next time… peace”
